Disturbing Video Captures Point Officers Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack
A ranking policeman who jumped to the assistance of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knife attacker has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he held a knife to the throat of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the officers and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in summer 2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.
"Officer knifed," PC Wolstencroft stated over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashcam footage made public by the force depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a blade extended.
He collided with the officer who lost balance and went down to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the ground although being continually attacked with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a open target, ending the fight to an end.
Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "Can I get help on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sgt Ansell received two deep cuts to his neck and further injuries to his arms and torso, while Sergeant Foster experienced knife wounds.
Authorities stated Sgt Foster employed his hands to stop his fellow officer's hemorrhaging before paramedics arrived.
The new recognition follows subsequent to the law enforcement team won organizational Bravery Awards in October 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area union branch in April 2024.
They were also awarded a Regional Valor Recognition in summer 2024.

Brown received a sentence to an psychiatric detention in early 2024, as stated by authorities.
